XECAN is the leading provider of smart clinic solutions through patient tracking and verification. XECAN utilizes smart IDs and its wedge integration technology to increase patient safety, and improve efficiency by:
- Coordinating care via the tracking of the patient, specimens, medications, and treatment procedures throughout the entire course of treatment reducing misidentification and errors. XECAN's wedge software agent interacts with the existing EMR system to ensure all preparations are in place and will disable the treatment procedure plan if there are any misidentifications.
- Improving clinic workflow through automated clinic whiteboards.
Management Teams and Advisors
Bin Yang, Ph.D., CEO and Product Architect
Bin has been programming business applications since 1989 and has a decade of experience developing large scale web systems for Fortune 500 companies. Through these consulting experiences, he gained firsthand knowledge of the needs and pain felt by business customers. XECAN is his brainchild of those experiences to bring quality product and services to the healthcare industry. Bin earned a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Chinese Academy of Science. He also completed two years of post-doctoral research at the Laboratory for Nuclear Science at MIT.
Tom Dwan, Vice President of Operations
Tom brings more than 30 years of management experience to XECAN, spanning operations, program management, and product development in computerized test equipment and short-range radio frequency communication devices. Before joining XECAN, he held positions at RCA and GE in defense electronics, as well as start-up ventures in wireless communications and enterprise software. Tom holds a BSEE degree from Norwich University, MSEE degree from Cornell University, and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.
Femi Omojola, System Architect
Femi is XECAN's system architect with over a decade of experience designing complex software in a wide range of fields including RFID and mobile supply chain management, embedded systems and multi-platform mobile software. Previously Femi led engineering development for United Villages, Inc., a venture funded startup with major operations in India and Cambodia, and was a principal investigator at VehicleSense exploiting patented technology in projects for the Department of Transportation. Femi obtained his S.B. and M.Eng in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
Warren H. Hausman, Ph.D. Advisor
Warren H. Hausman is Professor of Operations Management in the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. His most recent research project analyzes the benefits of IT-enabled global trade management; TradeBeam Inc. has supported this research. He is currently performing research on “Smart” visibility in supply chains; Lockheed-Martin Corporation supports this research.
Professor Hausman served as the Departmental Editor for Logistics for Management Science from 1974 to 1982. In 1994 he was elected President of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA). He has also served on the Board of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and on several National Science Foundation Advisory Panels and Committees. He is a Fellow of INFORMS, a Distinguished Fellow of the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society, and a Fellow of the Production & Operations Management Society. He has also won several teaching awards, including the Eugene Grant Teaching Award in Stanford’s School of Engineering in 1998. Professor Hausman served as Department Chair for the Industrial Engineering – Engineering Management Department at Stanford from 1982 to 1992. He has been serving on the XECAN's advisory board since 2011. He earned a BA in Economics from Yale and a Ph.D. from MIT.'s Sloan School of Management.
